Maintenance work on the golf course is ramping up as we come to the close of the golfing season. Starting in May, the golf course will be closed on Mondays to allow us time for extra maintenance activities. This will help ensure the course continues to be in good condition through the summer.
The transition from the winter ryegrass on the tees to bermudagrass is going well. We still have a few weeks before we will be 100% bermudagrass, but the turf density is good and should only get better going forward. Some of the tees may be slightly off color due to the ryegrass dying, but this is to be expected and will be short-lived as the bermudagrass takes over.
The front nine will be closed May 8th through May 11th, and the back nine will be closed May 15th through May 18th. During this time, we will aerate and verticut greens, tees and fairways.
We are also beginning to spray weeds more aggressively to help clean up the turf on the course. You may see some areas of turf go off color, in spots that we have sprayed weeds, but this will only be temporary and the turf will recover quickly.
We look forward to a productive summer and hope to see you on the course.
