It has been an exciting month for the golf course maintenance department. The greens renovation project has been started and is well underway. All of the greens have had the old grass stripped off and 6″ of organic matter removed. New greens mix is currently being added to the greens to build them back up to their original profile. This should be complete in the next couple of weeks. If the weather continues to be favorable and there are no other delays, we will continue to be on schedule and anticipate planting grass on the greens around the end of the third week of July.
Along with the greens renovation, we are rebuilding the bunker on the left side of 17 green. It will be elevated about 2 feet so it will not be flooded by water from the adjoining lake during periods of heavy rainfall.
The turf density continues to improve on the tees. We are still doing everything we can to promote growth on them through the summer. There are a few thin spots left that we will be sodding over the next few weeks.
We hope that everyone has an enjoyable Fourth of July and look forward to seeing you on the course.
