The golf course maintenance department has had a productive August. The greens continue to grow and fill in nicely, keeping us on schedule for the November 1 opening. As the greens get closer to being 100% covered with turf, we have begun implementing the maintenance practices necessary to groom the greens to smooth them out and get them down to the proper greens height.
Our herbicide program has made good progress on controlling weeds throughout the course over the past 2 months. We still have some larger applications left to do over the next couple of weeks, along with some spot treatments. As these applications wind down, we are applying supplemental applications of fertilizer to any areas of turf that were left thin from weed eradication.
As we move towards fall, the maintenance staff will begin our final preparations to have the course ready for the upcoming golf season.
We are excited about the new greens, and we look forward to seeing everyone out playing once they are finished.
