Golf Course Update – November 2019
Now that we are entering the winter golf season and the days are getting shorter and the temperatures are dropping the growth of the grass will slow down. We have had a great summer and will continue to maintain the conditions, throughout the winter months, by keeping up with the fertilizer and weed control.
In late November to early December, we will apply a light overseeding to the tees, we did this last year, too. This application will assist in recovery, density, and the overall playability of the tees throughout the busy winter months.
We sincerely want to thank all of you for your patience and support, especially over the last few weeks, as we completed the final projects in preparation for the season. We are very excited about the progress that has been made and look forward to another great season of golf here at the Club.
Sincerely,
Buck Deibel Kenton Gamache

Golf Course Update – August 2019
Now that we are finishing up July and the heat, humidity and rain are in full action we are doing everything we can to keep the course mowed. We are continuing to spray the rough for weeds and doing some spot spraying in the fairways and tees. The rough is continuing to heal in from the thinning of weeds and is looking good.
For the future plans, currently we have two big items to address. The first is September 3rd – 5th we are going to be aerifying the greens again. The 3rd the front 9 will be closed, the 4th the back 9 will be closed and the 5th is a backup day in case we have any delays.
Lastly, on Monday, September 9th the tees and fairways will have a product cut into them. This product is called Curfew, and is a pesticide to kill nematodes. This means that on Tuesday, September 10th the golf course and practice facilities will be closed. Also, during these two days no one can walk on the golf course. There will be signs posted around the golf course prior to, and during the application process.
We want to thank everyone for all their support and please feel free to contact the Golf Shop if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Buck Deibel Kenton Gamache

Golf Course Update – July 2019
Now with summer in full swing, I hope everyone is staying hydrated and cool.
The aerification on the greens could not have gone better. The greens are only a few days away from being completely healed.
The herbicide applications in the rough have been completed and it also went well. A few areas thinned out as expected but by Monday, July 8th the worst of these areas will be sodded. These areas will play as ground under repair until the sod is ready for play. Ropes and signs will be in place for these areas. The rest of the areas will heal on their own with some fertilizer and sunshine. The staff and I really appreciate all the compliments we have received lately. We are appreciative of your kind words and wish everyone the best!
Sincerely,
Kenton Gamache Buck Deibel

Golf Course Maintenance Update – May 2019
As the summer season gets started, the days get longer, temperatures rise, and the grass really begins to grow. This is our time to start making a dent in the weed population. Over the next week, we are going to be spreading fertilizer across the whole course. This will stimulate the grass, even more, to assist in recovery and growth. After the fertilizer is out we are then going to spend a week or two spraying all the rough with an herbicide that will kill the weeds. You will see some discoloration in the Bermuda grass but in a few short weeks the Bermuda will green back up and fill in the spots where the weeds once were.
Finally, a reminder that June 3-7 the front 9 will be closed for maintenance and then the following week June 10-14 the back 9 will then be closed for maintenance. We all appreciate your patience during this time and look forward to seeing everyone on the course soon

Golf Course Maintenance Update – March 2019
After a short-lived winter, it appears that we are back in almost summer-like weather. I hope everyone has been able to get a round of golf in and enjoy the warmer temperatures.
The warmer weather has helped green the golf course up significantly over the past few weeks. An added benefit of this is some of the high traffic areas have started to recover. The maintenance staff has added extra fertilizer along with implementing some cultural practices to help with the recovery process in these areas. We still ask that everyone be mindful of the worn areas and try to keep traffic to a minimum in them.
With the arrival of tournament season, the maintenance staff has been working hard to have the course in the best shape possible. A lot of effort has been placed in to getting the speed of the greens faster and make sure they are rolling true. I hope everyone is pleased with the results.
Please enjoy the rest of the tournament season, and I look forward to seeing you on the course.

Golf Course Maintenance Update – February, 2019
Winter is finally here with cooler temperatures. These cooler temperatures have slowed the growth of the turf which has allowed us to take the time we normally use for mowing and refocus it on detail work on the course.
As we move into our tournament season, we have worked to increase the green speed. The cooler temperatures have slowed the growth of the turf on the greens. This combined with our growth regulator applications and rolling/topdressing program have helped the green speed increase. We will continue this program through the winter season.
The winter season also brings with it a different set of weed issues. While we are on a good program to prevent the winter weeds from germinating, we do have a few isolated patches in the rough. Please know that we are working diligently to spray these as they appear so they will not become an unsightly issue.
With the increased play from the winter season, traffic management becomes an issue in keeping the course in good condition. We have been placing ropes around the course to manage traffic in the worn areas. Along with that, we kindly ask that everyone help us with this by being mindful of where golf carts are driven so as to avoid any areas that are worn from too much traffic.
We hope that everyone has had a good start to the New Year, and look forward to seeing you on the course.

Golf Course Maintenance Update – December, 2018
The greens have been open for a month now, and I appreciate all of the positive feedback that we have received on them. Our work on the greens has now switched to a maintenance program instead of a grow-in program. With this, you will begin to see green speeds increase over the next couple of months.
Ropes have been installed throughout the course to help control cart traffic and to preserve the turf in high traffic areas. While they are an inconvenience, they are necessary to use during the busy time of year. We ask that you respect them along with the green and white handicap stakes that have been placed around the greens. As areas get worn, we will move the ropes as needed to shift cart traffic to less worn areas.
Some members have commented on a few weak areas in the fairways. These areas have historically been weaker than other parts of the fairways. We are working hard to improve the turf in these areas through supplemental nutrient and fungicide applications, and hope to have them in better condition within a few weeks if the weather cooperates.
